Draft Proposal

December 2001

“If I am not for myself, who will be for me?

But if I am only for myself, who am I?

And if not now, when?”

Hillel, a Jewish sage

“‘This is myself and this is another.’

Be free of this bond which encompasses you about,

And your own self is thereby realised.”

Saraha, a Buddhist sage

TJYE, the Tibetan/Jewish Youth Exchange introduces a new kind of peace process for leaders of tomorrow. The process of Peer Education And Cultural Exchange.

Through sharing peer-led informal education techniques, Tibetan and Jewish youth have been supporting each other to find new ways to engage with their identity, foster understanding and consider their role in the world.

Our pilot project cost £30,000. Run by young people, for young people, TJYE organised two youth camps in India, sent eight young people on international exchange trips as guest youth leaders, and organised interfaith dialogues and inter-cultural events for their wider communities. Now we wish to take our work forward.

Now is the time to work for PEACE

Live your heritage, share our vision, invest in a common purpose
